Day 2: Christmas Blog Series

2016 Christmas Blog Series

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

My answer to this question is still surprisingly the same as a few years ago: NEW YORK.

Funnily enough, in my (almost) 3 years as a flight attendant, I have not gone back to New York EVER. I didn’t bid for it at the start of its run ’cause I knew I had no chance, as the competition was fierce lol. But then when most of the crew had already tried it out and gotten tired of it, I realized I didn’t like flying to Vancouver (which is the layover station before and after New York). Plus, if I had the chance to choose London over any outstation, I would always choose London. Harhar. (I did try bidding for it once, though, and I got my bid. I was even supposed to fly with Angela. But then my surgery last July prevented me from doing so, so… huhu.)

Anyway, I digress.

Even though almost all Filipinos you encounter would say that there’s no place like home (Philippines) for Christmas, I still think celebrating it in another country is worth a shot. Just to shake things up a bit.

To be honest, the holidays haven’t been that eventful for me for quite a while now. Since my brothers got married (or actually, even before that), we’ve let go of most of our traditions already. Lots of stuff have happened here and there… My brothers and their new families have made different plans and introduced new traditions… Things like those. Basically, life happened, and we’re currently in a state where we always try to figure out what we’re going to do, or where we’re going to go, for Christmas/New Year.

So yeah. I think if I had the chance to spend the holidays in a place that’s not Manila, I would definitely choose New York. Reasons, off the top of my head:

  1. IT’S THE CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS. Imagine all the lights and the parties (I won’t be attending)!
  2. Imagine chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose.
  3. SNOW.
  4. SNOWMEN. Or women.
  7. Yuletide carols being sung by a choir and folks dressed up like Eskimos!
  8. Broadway shows. Christmas gift to self. Seriously.
  9. NYE Ball Drop.

Look how picturesque:

Sigh. The flame which I thought had died has just been reignited. Chos.

This will happen soon. I will bring my (future) husband and my parents there someday. We will have a blast. Or at least we’ll get our butts frozen and it would still be worth it. LOL.

Wait for me, New York.
