Day 1: Christmas Blog Series

2016 Christmas Blog Series

What were some of your childhood Christmas traditions?

Hmm. First question and already so tough. What.

From what I remember, Christmas Eve would always see us eating dinner as a fam around 9PM. There would always be macaroni salad and turbo chicken. I just know that the 25th is fast approaching when my mom starts buying macaroni shells, mayonnaise, and canned pineapple (that last one, I half-wished she could forget at least once because WHY PINEAPPLES ARE WE SPONGEBOB).

Once the clock strikes 12, we greet each other a merry Christmas, exchange hugs and kisses, and then go to our tree to start opening gifts. YAY.

When I was in my pre-teen years, though, we started spending Christmas Eve with my mother’s side of the family. We’d have lots of fun games like the longest Happy Birthday, Jesus (which I always won ’cause, duh, Chorale taught me staggered breathing), soft drink drinking contests (which I also won ’cause I’m a Coke addict), etc. Then at 12, my cousin would go up to their roof and toss coins and I would pick up like a million pesos worth of 5 peso coins lol fun times.

My fam and I would then go home and open our gifts from under the tree. YAY.
