Well, now, somebody hasn’t done this for a while. (To be fair, that somebody hasn’t done anything else for a while so… consistent. LOL.)
This is going to be brief. And mostly beauty-related. (‘Cause I’m apparently vain like that now.)
So I’ve been trying out a couple of beauty products lately to fit my, uhh, “maturing” needs. By that, I mean I’m getting old(er) and I just couldn’t use the same products on my face anymore. Like recently, I’ve found myself letting go of my beloved Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion in place of a more suitable moisturizer aimed at firming the skin and getting rid of fine lines. (I don’t have obvious fine lines yet, thank God, but it’s still good to start early. As with eye cream. Did you know you’re supposed to start with that as early as 19 years of age?) Additionally, with all the gunk I’ve been putting on my face daily (for work), I’ve really been noticing changes in my skin compared to when I used to go faux naturel.
Anyway, most of the changes I’ve been experimenting with have been with make-up. I recently switched to MAC Pro Longwear Foundation (after being a Cover Girl… girl… for quite some time) and I’ve so far been really pleased with its performance. I mostly use this when I go on medium and long haul flights and let’s just say that after 14 grueling hours onboard from Manila to London, my makeup can still afford to go on tour for a few more hours.
On to the stuff I love for this month!
1. Bath & Body Works’ Twilight Woods Diamond Shimmer Mist. I got this on sale during my trip to Vancouver recently. It smells so good and leaves me all shining, shimmering, splendid. After reading my first Stuff I Love entry, I can pretty much conclude that I am addicted to B&B’s shimmer collection. Hihi.
2. Rimmel London’s 9-In-1 Skin Perfecting BB Cream + Match Perfection Skin Tone Adapting Concealer. These, I bought on a whim while walking through one of the supermarkets in London. They were on sale too (I try to be a practical shopper, lol) so I got them. Didn’t think I’d be hooked, BUT I AM. Rimmel isn’t kidding around when they say “skin tone adapting”. This concealer seriously adapts to my skin and comes out looking so natural and flawless. The BB cream is no exception. Prior to this one, I’ve been using the Olay CC cream and I thought I was pleased with that until Rimmel came into my life. This Bad Boy (BB, lolz) primes, moisturizes, minimizes pores, conceals, covers, smooths, mattifies, brightens, and protects. I can even skip the concealer if I want ’cause this BB cream’s coverage is already pretty good. Thanks, London. Love you even more. Haha.
3. Maybelline’s Color Sensational Nude Lipstick in NU35S. I bought this on a whim, too, at the local Watsons. I was looking for a replacement mascara and it just so happened that they had a buy 2 get 1 product free sorta thing. So I bought a mascara and this lipstick and got an eyeliner for free! YAY! Anyway, not so hot on the mascara, but I do love this lipstick. I love the difference it makes on my overall minimal make-up look, first off. I also like that it doesn’t leave my lips dry afterwards. (That’s one problem I have with MAC lipstick.) They have other shades of nude too so if you want to check them out, go ahead.
Sidenote: I also use Rimmel’s Moisture Renew Lipstrick in Red Alert. That’s pretty fabulous too. I use that for work and it’s the perfect shade of red that also does a good job of keeping the lips moisturized. Do yourself a favor and try that line!
Moving on to the catalyst behind this post: Mich & Myl Nails.
I went for a mani-pedi this afternoon and chanced upon this salon on my way to the washroom. I already had another salon in mind but saw that their price list was pretty competitive so I tried them out. And I’m glad I did.
Upon entering, I was greeted by friendly staff. Told the receptionist I wanted to try out their gel french manicure and also avail of their foot spa. And so I did. Then she told me that I was entitled to a welcome drink — a choice of either iced tea, hot tea, and something else I forgot. WHAT. THAT IS AWESOME, THANKS, I REALLY NEEDED A DRINK. (Chose the iced tea, yay!)
Drank away while they worked on meh. Their mani-pedists were so nice and smiley and careful. The one who did my french manicure, especially, did such an awesome job (look at that picture!) and was so helpful when I asked about how to remove the gel manicure in the future. I was also amazed at the UV lamp thing they used to dry my nails. Let me just say that it is SUCH a joy to not have to worry about ruining a new mani. (Sorry, it’s my first time to try out gel polish so forgive my n00b comments. I AM JUST SO HAPPY OKAY.)
I have never been this satisfied with a service for quite a while. This is only, like, my 4th time to have my nails done (’cause I usually just don’t give a crap — but times are a-changin’, LOL) and I have to say, this one did not disappoint. I look forward to having my nails done there again soon. I suggest you do the same Hihi.
How about you? Any products or beauty stuff you swear by? Do lemme know! 🙂
